What can I say? 2 updates in 4 days. This one is more a a neccessity as my CGI web host, Graffiti.Net, is
currently having major problems with their equipment. As a result, and to ensure my site has
no dead links, I have subscribed to Spaceports.Com. They are a free web host,
offering CGI support and e-mail forwarding. And to celebrate the new host, I have updated the bulletin board to the
award-winning Ultimate Bulletin Board. There will be a steady transfer of all CGI programs
to the new server with the prospect of new items being added. Included in this should be my textures for the
On the graphics front, another quick render has been added to the gallery. This one, entitled "Aboard the USS Defiant"
is another opportunity to see Anya Sourikova in action. And it appears she already has a fan out there in Cyberspace.
A new day is born and so is a new character for the gallery. I will be staffing the Outpost with Poser created characters and
the first to come aboard is Astometrics Specialist, Anya Sourikova.
Also added to the gallery is a collaboration of characters from Star Trek: Voyager. Simply entitled "Girls of Voyager", it proves the power of the P2 450
processors I'm now using. For those who do not know, the Poser software package eats memory and processor power. With
my previous chip, 2 or 3 characters and a few props in one scene was a luxury. Any more and you're playing
Russian Roulette. This scene has 12 characters (4 bodies and 8 clothing items, each with 16Mb of texture maps) and Poser still rumbles on. Coooo !!!
One of the things missing from the image is the Maquis/Federation rank pin on B'Elanna. This I intend to rectify by learning to
do some actual 3D modelling. Watch here for more info.
Hurrah. The upgrade is finally done. My rendering machine is now a dual PII 450 machine
with a tempting 196Mb of RAM. Hopefully, this will speed up rendering time (when compared
to a single processor PII 233) and will improve on the static nature of the renders I will
put on display.
Nothing yet to add. Keep alert, however, for some interesting renders starring ST:Voyager's main
babe, Seven of Nine. Communion (from the Renderocity camp) has e-mailed me his latest creation which,
with his blessing, I hope to improve on and add too. I've always wanted to see how far the relationship
between Seven and EMH would have gone.......
Hmmm. Still looking for that new part for the old machine but in the meantime, I've put a couple of
new renders in the gallery. Both were created in Lightwave 5.5 and shows what a complete beginner can do ( even with an
under-powered computer<grin> ).
Erk. It seems my motherboard has decided to give up the
ghost, relieving me of my graphics computer. And as the AMD K6 chip residing in my second machine
doesn't seem to handle graphics renders very well, there'll be no more additions to the gallery
until such time as a new motherboard is purchased.
I would like to take this opportunity to
wish all my visitors, old and new, a Happy New Year and Millennium.
